Biketown
Lyft Bikes & Scooters | Year: 2020-2022 | Role: Industrial Design Lead
One of the downsides of dock-less shared bikes and scooters is the clutter they can cause on city sidewalks. Taking inspiration from playgrounds, we developed a playful yet rugged lightweight station that embodies the Lyft brand, while providing a clear home for our dock-less fleet.
Working with Nike, our Biketown sponsor in Portland OR, we developed custom mats made from a blend of re-ground Nike shoe soles. The mats hide the base structure, help anchor the station, and are reminiscent of rubber playground tiles.
As design lead, I was involved in all aspects of this program including initial design exploration, physical prototyping, final CAD, material exploration, and owning the iconography and station graphics.
